About the School

Dear reader — welcome to the page of the School of Computing and Informatics, Mizan-Tepi University.

The history of the School of Computing and Informatics began in 2013 G.C. with three departments: Computer Science, Information Technology, and Information Systems. In 2021, the Department of Software Engineering was launched to share the mission of the institution.

The basic objective of the School of Computing and Informatics is to produce high-quality graduates with full professional competence for the local and international IT industries.

The School promotes impact-oriented research activities and strives to solve national problems using ICT as an enabling force for societal digital transformation. The school also considers community service as a priority — and it is the reason why the school came to exist.

As the years go on, the establishment of the school has shown a significantly increasing number of students and staff populations, and growing demands for sophisticated facilities.
