Dear reader — welcome to the page of the College of Engineering and Technology, Mizan-Tepi University.
The College of Engineering and Technology is one of the largest colleges in Mizan-Tepi University. It was launched in 2002 E.C. / 2010 G.C. with two departments: Surveying Engineering and Construction Technology and Management.
Two years later, in 2003 E.C. / 2011 G.C., the college launched three additional departments: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. In 2010 E.C. / 2018 G.C., a further department — Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering — was launched.
By now, the College of Engineering and Technology has six (6) departments with different fields of specialization.
In addition to the regular program, the college offers an extension/weekend program in Civil Engineering and Construction Technology and Management at the BSc level, and a summer program in Engineering Drawing and Design at the BED (Bachelor of Education Degree) level.
Since 2006 E.C. / 2014 G.C., the College of Engineering and Technology has graduated more than 5,000 students in BSc programs.
The college's long-term aspiration for engineering education in Ethiopia.
The vision of the College of Engineering and Technology is to be among the top 10 technology institutes in Ethiopia by 2030 E.C., serving as a center of excellence, innovation, and research.
Six departments in the regular program, each with distinct fields of specialization.
Launched in 2003 E.C. — covering structural, geotechnical, transportation, and water resources engineering.
One of the two founding departments (2002 E.C.) — blending construction technology with project and site management.
Launched in 2003 E.C. — covering power systems, electronics, communications, and computer engineering.
Launched in 2010 E.C. — focused on water resource development, hydraulics, and irrigation engineering.
Launched in 2003 E.C. — covering thermodynamics, machine design, manufacturing, and industrial systems.
One of the two founding departments (2002 E.C.) — covering geodesy, photogrammetry, GIS, and land surveying.
Regular, weekend, and summer programs serving a growing student body.
More than 20 laboratories and workshops supporting experimental and practical learning.
The College of Engineering and Technology has more than 20 laboratories and workshops where students carry out experimental and practical activities. Each department has its own computer laboratory.
For some courses where there are no full laboratory facilities, students are sent to other universities or institutes where equipped laboratories are available. The college has sufficient classrooms with the necessary classroom facilities, and it also has its own library — the Engineering and Technology Library — equipped for engineering and technology students.
Teaching-learning, research, and community service supported by young, highly motivated instructors and technical assistants.
