Mizan-Tepi University has celebrated a colorful ceremony of students” graduation for two consecutive days starting on June 14, 2017 E.C that 897 students who successfully completed their studies in under- and postgraduate programs across its campuses.
On the first day ceremony, MTU conducted a graduation for students at the college of Engineering and Technology, college of Natural and Computational science and school of computing and Informatics at Tepi campus. On the second Day, MTU has graduated students who have studied in both undergraduate and post-graduate programs at the main campus in College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of Business and Economics, College of Social Sciences and humanities, and School of Law. At both ceremonies, various high officials from federal government and regional levels have attended.
At both graduation ceremonies, Dr. Wako Geda, President of Mizan-Tepi University, delivered a welcoming opening speech. In his speech, the President urged graduates to serve their communities with integrity in their respective fields of study, and he stated that Mizan-Tepi University will keep striving to become a more chosen institution. The president mentioned that the university is dedicated to assure the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, and he also noted that MTU plans to launch 4 PhD programs over the next years. He then invited the guests of honor of the days to deliver their messages.
Thus, at the main campus, His Excellency Dr. Fessiha Yitagesu; Chief Executive for the development of Federal Industrial Parks, Chairman of the Board of Mizan-Tepi University, and the Guest of Honor of the day; expressed his congratulations to the graduates, their families, and the entire community of Mizan-Tepi University. He mentioned and stressed that there is a significant result being seen at the university and it needs collective efforts to assure the progression in the future.
Similarly, Mr. Almau Zewude, Coordinator of Social Cluster and Head of the Education Bureau in position of Deputy Head of South West Ethiopia, congratulated the graduates. He encouraged the graduates to put a significant impact on education reform initiatives in order to keep the quality of education during this era of digitalization.
Afterwards, graduates from respective colleges and schools have received their degrees, and graduates who excelled in their studies received awards from the guest of honor. President of Mizan-Tepi University announced that scholarships have been granted to graduates who excelled at the 2017 academic year across the university’s campuses.
Finally, the guests who invited and attended the graduation ceremonies including senior government officials and community representatives from federal, regional, zonal, and city administration have observed the projects undertaken by the university; and the guests expressed their gratitude to the new administration for their efforts during a year stay with promising achievement addressing the university’s long-term queries in a brief period
