Mizan-Tepi University has donated laboratory equipment worth of more than 640,000 birr to Woshiqen Secondary School.
Woshiqen secondary School is one of the schools that Mizan-Tepi university has selected as a model school, and the university has donated laboratory equipment which provides 12 various types of services and the equipment is financially estimated more than 640,000 birr.
It is known that among the high scoring students of this school who will take the university entrance exam of 2017 E.C, are those come from remote areas, and the school has facilitated dormitory services in the school compound. To support this students’ basic service, moreover, Mizan-Tepi University has facilitated the school with beds, mattresses and pillows per the student.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs of the University, Dr. Terefe Getachew, in his speech delivered during the handing over ceremony, he emphasized that the issue of quality of education is a matter of national concern and schools should provide practice focused education to students. The today’s support is a part of a step towards improving the quality of education provided by the school so as to increase the number of students admitted to higher education institutions.
Mr. Elias Balku, the principal of the school, for his part, said that after the recent reform of leadership at Mizan-Tepi University, it is realised that the university is keen to work with various institutions. He has extended his gratefulness for the support given.
Mr. Tewodros Legesse, Director of Lab and Workshop of MTU, said that by coordinating the experts of the university, training on utilization of the equipment will be provided.
