Mizan-Tepi University conducting Training for Zilmamo and Suri youths

Mizan-Tepi University, Office of Vice President for research and community engagement has commenced a one-month short-term training for 20 Indigenous youth from the Zelmamo and Suri ethnic groups in the West Omo Zone, Since February 29/2025. To address the critical shortage of professionals in the region’s education and health sectors by equipping the participants, who are comprising 10th and 12th-grade students with essential knowledge and skills.

During the opening ceremony, His Excellency Mr. Metu Aku, Chief Speaker of the Southwest Ethiopia People’s Regional State, emphasized the significant challenges these pastoralist communities face in accessing quality education and healthcare. He emphasized the vital role of such training in bridging these gaps and contributing to sustainable development.

On behalf of the regional administration, His Excellency Mr. Metu Aku also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Mizan-Tepi University for its dedication and commitment to organizing and delivering this impactful training.
