Historical background of College of Engineering and Technology

Dear reader, Welcome to the page of Engineering and Technology College, Mizan Tepi University!

The College of Engineering and Technology is one of the largest colleges in Mizan-Tepi University, and it was launched in 2002 E.C./2010G.C. with two departments, namely: Surveying Engineering and Construction Technology and Management. Two years later, in 2003E.C. /2011G.C. the College of Engineering and Technology launched an additional three departments, namely: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. In 2010E.C./2018G.C., an additional department named Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering was launched. By now, the College of Engineering and Technology has six (6) departments with different fields of specialization.

In addition to the regular program, the College of Engineering and Technology is offering an extension or weekend program in the Civil Engineering and Construction Technology and Management departments at the BSc level; and there is also a summer program in Engineering Drawing and Design at the BED (Bachelor of Education Degree) level.

Since 2006 E.C. /2014 G.C. the College of Engineering and Technology has graduated more than 5000 students in BSc programs. At present, about 2000 undergraduate students in six regular programs, 55 undergraduate students in two weekend programs, and 115 undergraduate students in the summer program are enrolled and attending their studies.

Departments

College of Engineering and Technology has recently six departments in regular program with different specializations. 

LABORATORIES AND FACILITIES
The College of Engineering and Technology has more than 20 laboratories and workshops where students carryout experimental and practical activities. Each department has its own computer laboratory. For some courses where there are no full laboratory facilities, the students are sent to other universities or institutes where there is an equipped laboratory for those courses. The college has sufficient classrooms with the necessary classroom facilities, and also the college has its own library named Engineering and Technology library that is equipped for engineering and technology students.
