Bahir Dar University has won the 9th National Moot Court Competition for students of law
The 9th National Moot Court competition of Students of law at Higher Education Institutions has taken part at Mizan-Tepi University for three days since May 8, 2017 E,C.
At the beginning of the National Moot Court Competition, Dr. Terefe Getachew, the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Mizan-Tepi University, has delivered a welcoming speech.
The 9th National Moot Court Competition for students of law, organized by Mizan-Tepi University in collaboration with the Federal Institute of Law and Justice has taken place for three days and finally Bahirdar University and selale University have been competing for a final hearing. Lastly, Bahir Dar University won the 2017 National Moot Court for Students of Higher Education Institutions has received the gold medal and trophy.
At the closing program, senior officials of the institute, including the Director General of the Federal Institute of Law and Justice, Ambassador Degife Bula who holds the title of Minister and Vice presidents of the competing universities have attended.
The President of Mizan-Tepi University, His Excellency Dr. Wako Geda, has provided the concluding remarks. In his speech, the President mentioned that Mizan-Tepi University has pleased to host the competition in partnership with the Institute; and that the chance has provided a wonderful opportunity for experience and educational growth at Mizan-Tepi University to establish a platform where theoretical knowledge is applied in practice.
Ambassador Degife Bula, Director General of the Federal Institute of Law and Justice and the guest of honor of the day, has admired Mizan-Tepi University for its successful hosting of the entire program. He mentioned that the Federal Law and Justice Institute will keep working together with universities in the future by highlighting that students have shown the practical application of the knowledge they have learned theoretically.
Finally, the students of the winning university of the 9th National Moot Court competition, judges, participating universities, and coordinating committees have received awards from the guest of honor for the day. The students who participated from Mizan-Tepi University secured third place in the event; shown demonstrating performance that was highly encouraging and full of potential.
At the 9th National Moot Court Competition, 12 universities have participated which included Mizan-Tepi University, Arba minch University, Bahir Dar University, Debretabor University, Dire Dawa University, Haramaya University, Hawassa University, Oda Bultum University, Salale University, Wolayta Sodo University, Wolkite University, and Wollo University.
